Public Reviews for Phil Spector – Wall of Sound: The Very Best of Phil Spector 1961-1966 From Itunes:

Cold blooded murder

This guy killed a man, and his music is weird and he wears his sunglasses too high on his nose By Jamblowygt

Excellent compilation!

For those who want a concise sampler of the work of producer Phil Spector, this album will satisfy your needs. He has brought us some of pop's greatest songs, and they are perfectly showcased here. The one question that crosses my mind, however, is which one is the greatest: The Ronettes' still-magical masterpiece "Be My Baby" or Tina Turner's outstanding musical explosion "River Deep - Mountain High." Listen to the entire album but pay attention specifically to these two cuts - they are the cream of the crop. By tgt18

We have heard it all before

I like to think the latest mastering technicians have an ear for authenticity, however, so we hear these songs in a new light. With each one going for $0.99 you have quite a steal, although some would say Ike & Tina provide the cream of the crop, which appears Album Only at this time and place.

I do not know anything about Darlene Love so I learn more this way and good Lord, you would do better to buy this than tickets to _Baby, I Love You_ on Broadway. By Tim Bombadim

money distribution

does anyone know where the proceeds go? If phil spector receives it, cannot and will not purchase. even though the songs are great! By wild crzy

Living proof that music can indeed, stand the test of time and in this case, tragedy.

First of all, I think it's a bit distasteful that Phil Spector's face is plastered on the cover. Obviously the collection needs his name on it to sell, but there's enough constant reminder that he's attached to this. It's a bit insensitive to the victim's friends and family as well. That was a very bad call.

As for the music itself, you're not going to hear pop music that is this gorgeous ever again. The vocal groups, The Wrecking Crew (the backup band), and the Wall of Sound production technique were used to create some of the most awe inspiring recordings of all time. This is about as good as it gets folks.

These 19 tracks are some of the most timeless recordings ever, with seemingly everything going against them. Some of these tracks are pushing 50 years old, and they're attached to the name of a murderer. Yet they sound just as fresh, happy, bouncy, and beautiful as they did when Spector first pressed that "Back to Mono" button (due in part to some nice remastering).

Buy this collection if you enjoy good pop music. These really are timeless pieces.

Also, a reviewer was asking about "River Deep, Mountain High". It's the final track, and it's there in all its glory. :) By iTunesaddiction

PHIL SPECTRE-THE BEST

Forget all the whining...just let this be exactly what it is...GREAT! I hope Phil Spectre gets the money from this music. So his estate can keep this really great music alive.

To the ones that say ..."duh...didn't he just kill someone"? Yes, he did...however...THAT IS A DIFFERENT FORUM! OH and to the ones that say...."why would anyone want to support a murderer"?...same to you....THAT IS ANOTHER FORUM!!!

This is the place where we appreciate the good things that someone has done. If you don't want to post something nice, THEN KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT, didn't your mama teach you that if you can't say something nice, to not say anything at all?

PHIL SPECTRE created so much really great music. Geez, Darlene Love can still be watched every Christmas week live one night only to sing her traditional Phil Spectre Christmas song! It's amazing...it was amazing then, it's still amazing now, even more so because it's 50 years later, and people are still listening to this really great music. By . -

phil Spector wall of sound

I don't care that Spector murdered. I only care that "river deep - mountain high is a great musical masterpiece made long before he killed anyone and I want it badly. trouble is although I tunes lists the album, you can't actually buy it. you can buy most individual cuts but R D M H is only available by buying the entire album which can't be bought. I can only assume someone at I tunes agrees that Spector was crazy only during the creation of that particular song. so don't be hypocritical; come out and say it or take it off I tunes if you won't sell it. I want an answer. By bagztheminer

Phil Spector

Phil Spector Is A Murderer but he is also insane! That does not change the fact that he changed the way music sounds today. By mellie0704
